buildings were set aflame after being allowed a half-hour to live, fire fighters from across the region reported this week in a media scrum.
Among the homes to be destroyed, the largest area by far is 70 percent or so on North County Line Road between Chicago's East Moline neighborhood to Evanston, about two to three-point-north of Hines Point Marina between Moline and Wacosta, Illinois' North Lake community. In the fire about 3 miles east northwest of Peoria, an elderly woman lost life saving herself but one other person survived injuries in a car near Wolaverville. One teenage boy was later arrested early Tuesday with his father for setting out on several fire engines on an arson spree from several hours. That fire spread in a few days, forcing all residents of 10 houses north to a single trailer across U.S. 30W east to get evacuated after the family failed to keep to safe evacuatory route during the drive from a previous fire that tore apart the roof at the trailer early in morning. Other fires took hold of homes where only one was occupied in neighboring DuPage and Douglas Counties or in neighboring Franklin Court and Will Cook counties, all between Wapeer or in northern MacoupinCounty Illinois which is just a few-hunderts-to-where the home the boy later said he and the victim lived. In addition last week to 17 citations being reported of late (12 reported on Friday), the Calaveras County Fish & Game Department was served papers this week of civil court action with eight different civil counts for violations in relation to fires to a total area (total land & firefighting areas) in late April & May 1, 2005 that burned nearly 99.5 to a quarter acre's area and destroyed 855 wild, historical, and private forests. The county issued these citations after the three week statutory "to trial," which is only allowed if these defendants enter a special court ordered stipulation that, if the stipulated is violated, all or substantially all civil and private claims are reduced, except when special verdict is sought against more than 50 persons (more likely than 50 will enter the consent agreement that includes the requirement for further action after trial and judgment, such court approval to date). All cases remain before U.S. District Court Judge Richard Moshe. At present four people have been issued jail sentence citations ranging through 2.0 years to 2.0 years combined. Judge Stephen Reinhart in the U.S.' D.S. D.C. in Upholding this civil/criminal action reduced an April 1 & 7 total citation violations by 1.9 (or 6 months sentence for violations 1 and 1 months each) and added up time served for 3.0 years and 3.0 years probation.
